The primary focus of the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) is to provide basic and limited advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This individual possesses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation. Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians function as part of a comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight. Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians perform interventions with the basic and advanced equipment typically found in an ambulance. The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician is a link from the scene to the emergency health care system. [From the: National EMS Scope of Practice Model]

Becoming an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) requires strict training. Training classes prepare students to function as practitioners in the prehospital emergency medical environment. The curriculum meets the requirements of the PA Dept. of Health, and the National Registry of EMTs. Students who complete the program successfully will be eligible to take the National Registry written and practical examinations for certification.

Part-time (traditional, in-person sessions) This 15-week course is considered a Blended/Hybrid Model.  Students attend in-person sessions every Monday and Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm, with select mandatory weekends being required.  Students will also have 24/7 access to our custom-built classroom, which offers pre-recorded and scheduled content, including lectures, videos, and quizzes to support and enhance the learning experience.

Each student is required to participate in field/clinical internship experiences in and around Montgomery/Bucks/Berks Counties to achieve “patient contacts”.

Students who have successfully completed the didactic and clinical components of this program will be eligible to sit for the National Registry AEMT Exam.

Please note: A current EMT card, current BLS CPR card, PA Criminal Background checks, Child Abuse Clearance Forms, Health Forms with proof of vaccinations, Picture ID’s and Personal Health Insurance are required for entry into the AEMT programs. Students are also required to purchase Personal Student Liability Insurance once class starts (more information at the start of the program).

Attendance is extremely important. Classroom absences are strictly monitored and clinical or field absences are limited regardless of the reason.

The 224-hour course is designed to prepare the candidate to take the NRAEMT psychomotor and cognitive exams. It includes classroom (online and in-person), lab, and field internships at various locations in the Montgomery/Berks/Bucks County, PA regions.
