Class Dates: December 2, 2024 - April 6, 2025 (This schedule meets the college academic schedule - please view the schedule below to make sure the dates are compatible with personal schedules)
Becoming an Emergency Medical Technician requires strict training. Classes prepare students to function as practitioners in the prehospital emergency medical environment. This 18-week course is considered a Blended/Hybrid Model. Students attend in-person sessions every Mondayday and Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm, with many select mandatory weekends being required. Students will also have 24/7 access to our custom-built classroom, which offers pre-recorded and scheduled content, including lectures, videos, and quizzes to support and enhance the learning experience.
Each student is required to participate in field/clinical internship experiences in and around Montgomery/Bucks/Berks Counties to achieve “patient contacts”.
Attendance is extremely important. In-person classroom absences are strictly monitored and cannot exceed 16 hours throughout the program.
Students who have successfully completed the didactic and clinical components of this program will be eligible to sit for the National Registry EMT Exam.
Please note: Admission into the Freedom Valley Medical Training Institute's EMT program requires completion of the following procedures:
Submit proof of the following background checks which include: (must be no older than one year from the end of the program) PA Criminal Background check, Child Abuse Clearance
Submit a copy of driver's license, picture ID (passport), student ID
Submit a copy of personal health insurance (mandatory)
Submit proof of a recent physical examination completed by a physcian and/or PA-C or CRNP. Must include a two step TB test and state the student is in good health, free of communicable diseased and have no physical restrictions (must be able to lift at least 50 lbs).
Students are also required to purchase Personal Student Liability Insurance once class starts at the cost of approximately $42.00 (more information at the start of the program).
Students are required to purchase their own textbook. We are currently using:
Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured Essentials Package, Twelfth Edition
FVMTI offers the students a significant publisher discount which will be given upon registration/enrollment of the program. (we suggest students wait until their are given details of the textbook discount)
Prerequisites: EMT Students must be 16 years old at the completion of the program in order to be eligible to sit for the PA DOH state testing.
