Becoming an Emergency Medical Technician requires strict training. Classes prepare students to function as practitioners in the prehospital emergency medical environment.  This intense and accelerated 9-week course is considered a Blended/Hybrid Model.  Students attend in-person sessions every Monday and Tuesday from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, with one Saturday mandatory session being required on Saturday, August 10th from 8 am – 4 pm.  Students will also have 24/7 access to our custom-built classroom, which offers pre-recorded and scheduled content, including lectures, videos, and quizzes to support and enhance the learning experience. 

Each student is required to participate in field/clinical internship experiences in and around Montgomery/Bucks/Berks Counties to achieve “patient contacts”.

Attendance is extremely important. In-person classroom absences are strictly monitored and cannot exceed 16 hours throughout the program.

This class is very fast paced, and time and dedication are required for success.  Students who have successfully completed the didactic and clinical components of this program will be eligible to sit for the National Registry EMT Exam. 

Please note: PA Criminal Background checks, Child Abuse Clearance Forms, Health Forms with proof of vaccinations, Picture ID’s and Personal Health Insurance are required for entry into the EMT programs. Students are also required to purchase Personal Student Liability Insurance once class starts (more information at the start of the program).

The primary focus of the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) is to provide basic and limited advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This individual possesses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation. Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians function as part of a comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight. Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians perform interventions with the basic and advanced equipment typically found in an ambulance. Occasional mandatory days will occur throughout the 6-month course of instruction.  This course meets every Monday and Wednesday evenings and at least on Saturday a month.

Hybrid Learning Model Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) training classes offer pre-recorded and scheduled online content, with occasional weekend "live" remote sessions being required. Practical skills competency days will occur throughout the 3 1/2-month course of instruction.

The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) practical skills training classes are held in locations throughout Montgomery County. The classes start quarterly. The primary course location is:

In-person classes will be held at Ursinus College, located at 601 E. Main St., Collegeville, Pa. 19426 in the Floy Lewis Bakes Center, second floor, room 206.  Because this course is being held on the college campus, we will be following the college schedule, respecting finals week and holidays. 

Students who have successfully completed the didactic and clinical components of this program will be eligible to sit for the National Registry EMT Exam.
